ending of their eyes are watching god

In the beging of the book i thought that i wouldnt like it but i began to like even though it was still hard to read. i think that janie being with tea cake made her become herself she finnaly had a voice. Tea cake definitly was a questianably character the way the town was talking about him. But after reading all the gentlemen things he did with her. LIke the first the thing when he played checkers with her treated her as equal. Then when they talk about all the things they did together like in chapter 12 where they list the things tea cake and janie dance and tea cake and janie gone fishing. Tea Cake wasnt the man that peopel thought he was he loved janie and i think by the end of the book i think she finally found who she really was she found herself.
Something that caought my attention was when tea cake said "Ah i reckon you wish now you had stayed in yo' big house 'way from such as dis dont yuh?" then janie says that Naw.Naw? yeah, Naw. People dont die till dey time come nohow, dont keer where you at. Ah,m wid mah husband in uh storm, dats all." i think this was a time in the book where janie showed her strong side. i dont think she could have done it without tea cake becuase he let her be herself. tea cake and janie were the match that i think that she was looking for throughout the book. The ending of the book was good i think he defined who janie really was she was strong after all she had been through.

I think that Zora Neal Huston, really is a great writer especially for women's issues and rights. I'm constantly reminded of the hit HBO show "Sex and the City." Many of the women grow strength in every relationship that they have, but they have that relationship with each other that they can count on.

I think that Janie througout the book did not know what she wanted in a man or in a relationship. She had so many different approaches of finding love throughout the novel. I myself thought that his romantic gestures were sneaky. I understand that you can't help who you love, but to some extent, if you don't know yourself how can you know who to love?

I think Tea Cake was extremely infulential in Janies life. Although he was "shady" at times, he brought the best out of Janie. She became a strong indiviual and built the strenth to stick up for herself. In the beginning of the book, Janie was searching for herself through other people, which failed because her marriages failed. When she met Tea Cake, she didn't have to try and make it work. He proved his love for her and in return gave her the confidence to be a strong woman.

I agree with you. The book was difficult to read since we are not use to that type of language but it turned out to be ok. I liked that she found her inner strength with Tea Cake and how she finally found out who she was. It was a shocking ending though but in certain circumstances just about anyone will do what they have to do to surivive.

I to was not sure how I was going to feel about this novel, and I did think the writing style through out the whole novel was a challenge to read. I don't agree with the way the town was talking about Tea Cake, they didn't like him, but I thought Tea Cake was a great guy and I was happy with his and Janie's relationship. I also agree with you too that Janie is a strong character by the end of the novel. she starts off weak, but changes throughout the whole novel.

I agree. I think the shooting was a symbolic symbol of strength. This shooting was the releasing factor in which her strength met with her independence.
